What should you do when your dreams and responsibilities clash?
The dreams are you purpose in life, working for your dream, achieving makes you happy...but there are responsibilities that one has to sometimes fulfill to keep their loved ones happy.
Can one truly be happy if he or she chooses one?
Go for your dreams ,don't give up on your happiness for the sake of your loved ones .If you have got a dream ,you got to protect it .people by nature are mean,selfish and self centered ,don't sacrifice anything for their sake .you might regret in future if you see them not making the kind of sacrifices that you made for them.
man lives for himself ,his foremost duty is to think of his/her happiness,no one exists for the sake of others ,even your close family members will forget all the sacrifices that you made for them and act selfishly if ever they have to make a choice between you and their own goals ,wishes and desires.
perceive life from the prism of you at the center of it.your dreams ,when you achieve them will make you not only happy ,but also powerful .particularly when those dreams will carve niche,separate identity ,status and position for you in the society.what can be more important in life than living for yourself and keeping your happiness as the reason for your existence.as buddha has said " you more than anyone else in this universe deserves your own love and affection ".
my answer will sound to you very selfish ,but it is the result of my experience with my own family members and some very close friends.I might be generalizing about things based on my own experience,but I think things have changed drastically and no longer the virtues of past such as loyalty,faithfulness ,pure love,selflessness are relevant today.
Deal with people from the position fo strength and that can only happen when you have become whatever you wanted to be and that implies going for your dreams at all cost.
