What would you do if you caught your child masturbating in their bedroom?
There are opinions in psychology and religion about the stigma of fostering guilt by condemning your child for masturbation. If you accidentally walked in on your child and he/she was masturbating what would you do?
Would you yell at them saying it is "sinful"
or
Would you pretend nothing happened and walk away
or
Would you apologize and later tell them there is nothing wrong with the activity as long as it is in private
Provide your perspective about the activity if it is more important to foster morality based on religion or fostering a tolerant activity that has shown to have no negative psychological effects.
I would do a combination of 2 & 3. Walk out & then later when it wasn't quite as akward talk to them about how there's nothing wrong with it. I have caught all 4 of of my children masterbating, it's not that big of a deal but I would walk out & wait a while because I wouldn't want to embarrass them.
