How to get a book written by two authors?
I think James Patterson (large print) and Maxine Paetro (lowercase letters). I think Stephen King (top cover) and Peter Straub (bottom, somewhat less sensitive). I mean, the two sit at the computer together, a typing and the other going, "Oooh! Did the main character sleeping in the bushes and dream ...."?? take turns writing? The second or Unless maybe just ideas contributes enough to have his name on the cover, but the other reality is the written word? Just, writing is a solo activity, I can not imagine how the mechanics of this work in a situation of co-creation.
On their website, Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child (Co-authors of the relic, and. Al) Have a fairly good explanation of how they manage the long-distance collaboration. I am sure that all authors use same methods, but with P & C, it seems to work. I would create a direct link to the explanation, but their site seems to be down yet. The URL is www.prestonchild.com. To summarize, there is usually one of them who wrote a first draft of a party, as a chapter. They email back and forth several times until they are both satisfied, move on. They both have talent different areas of knowledge and expertise, so bouncing the story of two minds off helps a lot. And it is hard to argue with the results! EDIT: The website of P & C is back in place. Their explanation of how they work together long distance is in the FAQ section. The link is below. On the page, scroll to the third or fourth question and it is there. Hopefully that sheds some light on it for you.
