Stanley God
Pastor Stanley is bound by the laws and by laws of his church or God's?
We are commanded to "Obey the authorities," in scripture...
Does Pastor Charles' divorce mean that he disobeyed the "laws" of his church, and or possibly, God's?

When I first came to Christ, I built my faith around what Pastor Stanley, Dr. Dobson, Swindoll, Macarthur and some of the other pastor's modeled.
I strongly believe that Pastor Stanley has extraordinary faith...what do you make of his divorce, in light of all that I've just said?

What a great question!
I respect the point of view of "peacemakers", but, personally I don't think that Pastor Stanley has violated any of "God's laws" by remaining in the Pastorate at Atlanta First Baptist Church.
If I understand the Scriptures correctly, where Pastor Stanley would "cross the line" is if he were to remarry. As far as the "rules of the church" go, this is between the leadership of the church and Pastor Stanley.
Having said all this.. The thing that bothers me most is a statement that Pastor Stanley made about resigning if he ever got a divorce. Evidently, at one time he did think that was the appropriate thing to do. It's also common knowlege that some of the Elders were in favor of him staying, and some were in favor of him leaving. This is also very unfortunate because this situation has caused a split in the church.
I still listen to Pastor Stanley and the others that you mentioned.
