wow 110 characters what a freakin joke. Question, if you become a trucker are you prettymuch always gonna be gauranteed that its not that far away to drive to show up for work in your car and then drive some more in the rig? by close to home i mean like less than a 30 minute drive. I'm in Orlando, FL so it may seem like a silly question but with some companies I wonder what the situation could be, ya never know. Like if someone lives in bumfudge georgia could there be a chance they will have to drive all the way to atlanta just to get to work? thanks, i'm thinking of being a trucker, I was in the navy so i'm not too worried about business trips, lol. i am used to 6 months at sea! but one thing i wont stand for is living somewhere that i dont want to live because of work. i like central florida. its nice.
You are in what a lot of company's call a DEAD ZONE. That is a place that is hard to get out of. 90% of the companies allow a driver to take home there truck after a probationary period. that usually is 90-180 days, again depending on the company. While around town look at the different trucks that you pass and pay attention to the ones you see a lot of they are the ones you want to check out. Their are some companies that will not even go down into Fl. due to the checkpoints. With you being former military check around and see if there isn't some funding available. I went through the government program called WIA that paid for everything except for gas to the school and food. Do your research. Have a good time.
