What is the word for: Someone who creates his/her own words/terms?
I remember hearing this before, pretty sure it has an "ist" suffix and either begins with "locqu" or "ev" prefix, although I could be wrong. Real words ONLY. It must be found within the Oxford Unabridged English Dictionary (I own the 20 vol. set) or the Webster's American Unabridged Dictionary (considerably shorter) for you to receive best answer. If it is not there, you must provide two sources to prove you are right.
The term for the creation of new words or short phrases in a language is a NEOLOGISM (from the Greek, neo=new, logos=word). Neologism also refers to the word itself. An example of a neologism would be radar or blog.
A person who creates a neologism would thus be a NEOLOGIST.
