does anyone know what the per diem rate is for otr drivers for 2009?
I'm a company driver, I live in washington state. I'm on the western regional account also am i able to deduct the cost of a laptop computer, as well as some other things such as satilite radio subscribtion and television?
.29 to.59 cents a mile
no deductions except meals, the rest is unnecessary, they can be provided by employer, for your comfort, but not a deduction for you,
in the u.s. driving is a little different, most of us are owner operators, company men are few.
our rates are higher depending on skill level - hazmat, tanker, dry good, vans, recreational vehicles, buss drivers, the list is endless, steel haulers, food haulers, etc........
the best paid are the hazmat and hazardous haulers (explosives), they can earn up to $10.00 a mile, but the risks and the rules are astronomical, so is the insurance!
