Order Phoenix
Why wouldn't Sirius become a ghost for Harry in the Order of the Phoenix?
At the end of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, after Sirius died, Harry asked Nearly Headless Nick if he (Sirius) would come back as a ghost. Nick said that very few wizards choose that path, and that Sirius will have gone on. But why wouldn't Sirius come back for Harry?
Option A: Move on to a new plain of existence where he may get to see his best friend (James) and his wife, also a good friend (Lily). He may also get the option to make peace with his parents AND his little brother (Regulus) if he so chooses. Also, after enough time, he may get to see Harry, Lupin, Dumbledore, and every other person he has ever met, seeing as they've all got to die sometime. True, it's not 100% certain that this is what waits for you, but no matter what, it's going to be a great adventure and will take a great deal of bravery.
Option B: Stick around. Never be able to touch anything again. Be there for Harry, but not really, because he would be a mere echo of his former self. Never ever be able to move on. Once everybody else dies, never see anybody you care about again because they all chose option A. Never get to see James and Lily again. Haunt your old high school for the rest of eternity. And in addition, basically you're sticking around because you think that your 15 y/o godson is too immature to handle death, something he's been dealing with since the ripe old age of 12 months. On the plus side, you know EXACTLY what you're going to get.
