How do I have less of my own money, help me, or help the economy?
The government takes over, and I have less. How me or help the economy, when its done to everyone. The government spends to maintain power, he has no motivation to market spend the most effective.
Your question shows that you are more intelligent and economically literate than most Liberals Congress. Of course, what you described will not help the economy. What we desperately need is the creation wealth, and the private sector can do. All the government can do is redistribute wealth, and it's like having a pool half full and try to fill it by taking water from one end and pour the other end. On the other hand, wealth creation will occur when you (and everyone else) can keep more of your own money, and you spend, save, invest, grow and hire. And, of course, learn to keep more of your own money is what we call a tax cut.
