is it safe for a 5 year old to take large doses of inositol for anxiety / ocd?

I have a 5 year old who has been showing signs of anxiety and obsessive behavior. We have just had him tested for celiac, however his blood test was positive and the biopsy was negative. He has one more test to rule out genetic celiac, and if that isnt the cause of his anxiety, we have to proceed with other treatments like cbt. My wife and I are totally opposed to putting him on any sort of meds, as we feel that he is way too young for that. I have however found a lot of information saying that inositol is harmless and effective for treating anxiety and ocd, at larger doses. Does anyone know what the maximum dosage is for a 30 lb 5 year old? Ive read that an adult would take 18grams a day at the most.

In psychiatric conditions, high doses of inositol supplements show promising results for people with several disorders including; panic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder, without any notable side effects. These are preliminary studiies. What is good is that your child is not on the stronger SSRI or antiu-psychotic medicine adults use.

Depressed patients use 12 grams daily.

Inositol is found in our bodies and bodies of all mammals; as a 6-fold alcohol (polyol) of cyclohexane, it exists in 9 different forms.

It is a naturally occuring carbohydrate, though not a classical sugar. It is found in high amounts in cereals with high bran content, nuts, beans and fruit, esp cantaloupe and oranges and is a member of the Vitamin-B complex.

It is produced by glucose in the body and is not an essential nutrient.
